4th place goes to "Schubert: Ländler"!

THE TIMES & SUNDAY TIMES awards 4th place on its list of the 20 best classical albums of 2024 to an extraordinary recording: Pierre-Laurent Aimard / Schubert: Ländler! The recording, released by PENTATONE, is thus the best solo recording of the year!

In his review, Geoff Brown writes:

An unusual album from a pianist often thought of as a contemporary music specialist. Here he plays a healthy selection of Schubert's Ländler: popular dance pieces so short and simple that this 68-minute album contains 113 of them. Aimard moulds and shades the notes with composure and subtle emphasis, without anything appearing cluttered or brittle. I could have listened for hours, perhaps even until the end of time.
